Description: Original 19th-century illustrated volume by James D. McCabe documenting the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of American independence. Published by Jones Brothers & Co. in 1876, this substantial volume features an ornate red cloth binding decorated in gilt and black with patriotic and Centennial imagery. The work contains extensive descriptions of the exhibition, its buildings and displays, along with numerous period engravings. The Jones Brothers & Co. 1876 edition is documented in institutional collections and was issued by subscription.
