Two large-format posters for the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center, featuring artwork by Marc Chagall. The vibrant composition depicts stylized figures in Chagall’s signature expressive and dreamlike manner, set against a rich red ground. The posters commemorate the opening of the Metropolitan Opera in September 1964 and were commissioned by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts as part of the List Art Poster Program of the American Federation of Arts.
Dimensions: Each approximately Height 38 in; Width 26 in
Condition: Mixed condition. One poster in overall good condition with light wear, minor creases, and handling marks. The second example shows significant damage with a large tear and loss along the lower edge, along with additional creasing and wear. Both exhibit surface wear and edge wear consistent with age.
