Description
This is a superb, scarce set of three original hand-colored aquatint engravings from the highly desirable series "Fores's Coaching Recollections". These prints capture the romance and excitement of the British mail coach era just before the railways took over.
Artist & Engraver Details:
The scenes are after paintings by the celebrated British equestrian artist Charles Cooper Henderson (1803-1877). The original plates in this series were primarily engraved by the accomplished printmaker John Harris (1791-1873) or Henry A. Papprill, and published in London by Messrs. Fores.
