Framed black and white etching titled Abraham Casting Out Hagar and Ishmael, after the original work by Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn. This reproduction was engraved by noted 19th century French master engraver Amand Durand, who is well known for producing high-quality restrikes and reproductions of Rembrandt’s etchings from carefully prepared plates. The composition depicts the biblical scene in which Abraham sends Hagar and Ishmael away, rendered with strong contrasts of light and shadow characteristic of Rembrandt’s dramatic narrative style. The print is presented in a framed and matted display.
