A dramatic polychrome bronze sculpture modeled after Agathon Léonard’s celebrated Art Nouveau work Le Vampire, also known as La Chauve-Souris (The Bat). The composition depicts a mysterious female figure with arms dramatically outstretched and enormous bat-like wings framing her body. Her long flowing green skirt is embellished with small red stars, while red accents appear throughout her headdress and jewelry.

The original Le Vampire was conceived by French sculptor Agathon Léonard around 1902 and is considered an important Symbolist and Art Nouveau composition. Documented period examples share the distinctive outstretched pose, expansive wings, partially nude torso, and star-decorated skirt seen here.  This example bears a LEONARD plaque to the stone base; without further foundry or period markings, it is best cataloged as after Agathon Léonard rather than as an authenticated lifetime casting.
