Beautifully cast pair of antique bronze bookends depicting a Native American scout in a dramatic crouched pose, shielding his eyes while looking into the distance. Each figure is modeled with a large feathered headdress and detailed period attire, rendered in high relief against an architectural-form backing.
Dating to approximately the 1920s, the bookends display a rich aged bronze patina and substantial cast construction. The pair is stamped with model or pattern number 9696 and weighs approximately 2.8 lbs. Green felt is applied to the undersides.
