This mechanical cast iron kitchen tool features a clamp-on base, hand-cranked gear mechanism, rotating fruit fork, and peeling assembly designed to quickly pare apples. Comparable surviving examples identify this model as the Reading Hardware Co. No. 78 apple peeler/parer.

Finished in green paint and accompanied by its original illustrated instruction sheet marked “No. 78 Reading Apple Parer” with the slogan “The Old-Fashioned Iron for Today’s Kitchen,” as well as its original cardboard storage box.
