Whimsical contemporary art glass vase attributed to Romanian-born artist Dan Bancila. The work features a translucent pale aqua blue body with flowing cobalt blue ribbon decoration and an exaggerated flared rim.
The sculptural form is enhanced by applied looping clear glass handles and an unconventional zipper-like mixed media element running vertically along the neck, lending the piece a surreal and avant-garde character. The vase is signed “Bancila” near the lower body.
An unusual and highly decorative studio art glass work blending traditional blown glass techniques with experimental sculptural design.
