Early 20th century optical projection device manufactured by Bausch & Lomb Optical Co., Rochester, New York, identified as Model C “Balopticon.” These projection lanterns were widely used in schools, lecture halls, and churches for projecting lantern slides and educational images before modern slide projectors became common. The unit features a metal projector body with bellows-style lens assembly and is housed with its fitted storage box. The manufacturer’s plate indicates a registered design with patent reference dated February 3, 1911. Bausch & Lomb was a major American optical manufacturer known for producing high-quality scientific and photographic equipment.
