This original 1961 gouache and watercolor painting on paper by the mid-century artist Clemons depicts an atmospheric night street scene outside a brightly lit European café or bistro. The composition captures figures conversing under warm glowing entryway lights set against dark blue and earth-toned architectural accents. Rendered with loose, expressive fluid brushstrokes and impasto-like gouache passages, the work is signed and dated Clemons 61 in dark pigment along the lower right margin. It is framed with a wide white mat, thin gold inner lip, and a natural light wood frame.
