This etching depicts the legendary Spanish knight Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, better known as El Cid, mounted on his horse and bearing a shield emblazoned with a cross. Part of Dalí’s "Five Spanish Portraits" suite originally published in the 1960s, the work showcases the artist's masterful draftsmanship and his deep connection to Spanish history and mythology. The composition utilizes precise, energetic linework and dense hatching to create a powerful sense of movement and sculptural volume. This particular piece is a later restrike from the original plate, often distributed by The Collector's Guild, and is signed in the plate at the upper left.
