Small metallic fragment accompanied by a handwritten note reading, “Piece of airplane that crashed into the Empire State Building, 1945.” The relic is believed to originate from the U.S. Army B-25 bomber that struck the north side of the building on July 28, 1945. A rare historical artifact connected to one of New York City’s most notable aviation accidents.
