Description:
This artwork is a powerful and iconic anti-war statement by the anonymous street artist Banksy, first appearing as a mural in Central London in 2002. The image depicts a squadron of detailed, heavily armed military Apache helicopters flying through a cartoon-like blue sky with simple white clouds. In a stark and satirical juxtaposition, the lead military chopper is adorned with a jarring, childlike pink bow.
The work critiques militarism and the glorification of conflict by clashing the menace of military equipment with the innocence of childhood imagery. It was released as a screenprint in 2003 in two editions: a signed edition of 150 prints and an unsigned edition of 600 prints.
