Description: A contemporary raku-fired studio pottery vase by Harry Hearne. The vessel features a wide, rounded body with a constricted neck and a slightly flared, dark-rimmed mouth. The exterior is decorated with a distinctive crackle glaze in shades of cream and copper, achieved through the traditional raku reduction process. This firing technique creates the characteristic smoky black carbonization in the crackle lines and on the unglazed portions of the rim and base. The piece is signed on the underside.
Details:
Medium: Raku-fired ceramic
Dimensions: H: 6 in; Diameter: 5 in
Signatures: Signed "Hearne" on the base
Condition: Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. All surface variations and crackle patterns are inherent to the raku firing process.
