The overall design is inspired by an atlatl, with a cap and barrel featuring translucent petrol and carmine red lacquer, evoking the royal cloak of the Aztec ruler. The champagne gold-coated fittings include a cap decorated with two hieroglyphs symbolizing Moctezuma’s reign.

The cone features a refined hammer finish, based on an Aztec sacrificial knife with an obsidian blade. The handcrafted Au 750 solid gold nib is specially engraved with the Aztec glyph for the city of Tenochtitlán: a three-armed cactus with a royal diadem. The cap is crowned with the Montblanc emblem in mother-of-pearl, embedded in the engraving of an Aztec sun disk.
