This enchanting painting by Marc Chagall features two women at the center of a fantastical dreamlike scene filled with symbolic imagery. A floating figure, reminiscent of Chagall's signature depictions of lovers and angels, embraces another woman, while a cast of expressive supporting figures—such as a man and a goat, a bouquet of daisies, and a bright red rooster—surround them. The use of vivid color, poetic surrealism, and folkloric symbols reflect the hallmarks of Chagall's artistic language.
