This 18th-century engraving, titled La Nuit (The Night), is a classic example of French Rococo genre scene artistry. Attributed to the Swiss painter and engraver Sigmund Freudenberger, also known as Frudenberg, the work depicts an intimate interior scene. The composition features a gentleman and three ladies in an elegant, candlelit bedroom setting, characterized by the ornate drapery of a canopy bed and period furniture.
The plate showcases the intricate linework and delicate tonal gradations typical of the era's printmaking, capturing the soft atmosphere of a nighttime gathering. The piece is housed in a vintage gilt wood frame with ornate carved detailing and sits behind glass. The lower margin bears the title in a flowing script.
