Large Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase of double-gourd form, richly decorated with detailed figural and landscape scenes. The upper body depicts figures amid architecture and mountainous scenery, while the lower body features a procession of figures within an expansive landscape. Elaborate gilt and polychrome decoration covers the surface, with repeating geometric and floral borders throughout. Applied gilt dragon-form handles extend dramatically from either side. The underside retains a "Made in China" label with Chinese characters.
