Description

A charming and ethereal limited-edition lithograph by the celebrated artist and Academy Award-winning costume designer Marcel Vertès. The work features a young woman—likely a circus performer—seated gracefully atop a sturdy, white horse. She is dressed in a voluminous, ruffled tutu that cascades over the horse's back, rendered with the artist’s signature gestural and airy line work.

The composition is characterized by its soft, sketch-like quality, using charcoal-toned greys to create a sense of movement and light. The subject's delicate features and the horse's gentle expression evoke the mid-century Parisian aesthetic for which Vertès was highly sought after.

  • Medium: Lithograph on paper.

  • Edition: Numbered 81/200 in the lower-left corner.

  • Signature: Signed in the plate to the lower right.

  • Dimensions: Height: 17 in. x Length: 22 in.

  • Condition: The print shows some light foxing (small brown spots) and minor toning consistent with age, primarily near the lower edge. The left edge shows a deckled or torn margin from the original binding/folio.
