An exceptional, highly coveted masterpiece of modern horological and instrument craftsmanship, this Montblanc High Artistry fountain pen originates from the exclusive "A Journey through Château de Versailles" collection. Celebrating the baroque architecture and majestic landscapes of the historical Versailles World Heritage Site, this specific writing instrument honors the geometric precision, royal gardens, and legendary Orangery commissioned by King Louis XIV (the Sun King).
The barrel and cap feature an incredibly intricate skeleton lattice overlay masterfully cast from solid Au 750 signature gold, which reveals a shimmering layer of rich green aventurine beneath to evoke the lush, manicured garden beds of the estate. The barrel is further accented by a brilliant garnet cabochon centerpiece encircled by a delicate floral engraving. Paying direct homage to royal authority and the Sun King, the signature clip terminates in a finely detailed relief of Apollo’s head enveloped by radiant sunbeams.
The cap is crowned with the iconic Montblanc star emblem crafted from lustrous mother-of-pearl embedded within solid gold. Uncapping the pen reveals a handcrafted solid Au 750 gold nib, delicately embossed with one of the historic planting pots that historically lined the royal flower beds to showcase the king’s prized citrus collection. The fluted gold cone mirrors the structural architecture of the Orangery vases, while the bottom seal features an elegant decorative monogram.
The limitation of 195 pieces worldwide draws inspiration from the "Grand Chiffre"—the complex court cipher system utilized by Louis XIV for high-level military and diplomatic confidentiality—where the numeral 195 explicitly translated to the word "honour." This pristine lot is accompanied by its complete original luxury presentation set, including a fitted black wooden viewing-window display case, historical motif inner box linings, and the matching outer sleeve.
