Sourced from the Norman Rockwell Museum of the South, this large-scale portrait depicts Norman Rockwell seated with his brushes and mahlstick. The work was created by Vermont artist Gene Pelham, a close associate who worked with Rockwell from 1939 to 1953, photographing models and appearing in several of Rockwell’s own illustrations. This piece includes a biographical typed insert detailing the history of the portrait and Pelham's professional relationship with Rockwell during their years in Arlington, Vermont. The lower right corner features a printed dedication and signature from the artist.
