Description: An archetypal example of the artist's seminal "subway drawings," this work was executed in white chalk on a black advertising panel. Dating from the early-to-mid 1980s, the piece features Haring's iconic bold lines and dynamic figure, a staple of his instantly recognizable visual language. The central figure, with radiating lines emanating from the chest and hands, embodies themes of life, love, and universal energy that were central to Haring's practice and social activism.
Provenance: This piece comes with a notarized letter from the current owner stating exactly when and where this piece was removed from the subway station. It has been in a private collection since it was removed in 1983.
