A magnificent pair of large-scale antique Italian architectural fragments, originally serving as ornate over-door pediments or valance cornices. Each piece features elaborate hand-carved openwork in a classic Baroque-inspired acanthus leaf and scrolling foliage motif. The wood is finished in a rich, aged gold leaf gilding that exhibits a beautiful historical patina with minor areas of authentic wear and oxidation. These substantial carvings are structurally supported by a rear wooden framework, complete with original mounting hardware, making them ready for installation as dramatic wall decor or architectural accents.
