This elegant duo features two distinct subjects rendered in the traditional ink and wash (suibokuga or shuimohua) style on silk or treated paper. These pieces exemplify the beauty of minimalism, using delicate brushwork and a muted color palette to capture the essence of the natural world. Both are professionally framed and matted, ready for display.

Piece 1: Study of Barley Stalks

The first painting depicts two stalks of barley or young wheat. The artist utilizes "boneless" technique (painting without harsh outlines) for the leaves, using varying shades of sage green and pale blue. The grain heads are meticulously detailed with fine, needle-like strokes to represent the awns (bristles). The composition is balanced and airy, reflecting a sense of quiet growth. It features a vertical calligraphic signature and a red cinnabar seal in the lower right.

Piece 2: Rockfish and Water Plants

The second painting features a textured, expressive rendering of a fish, likely a rockfish or grouper, appearing to rise toward two floating leaves or seed pods. The scales and fins are suggested through masterful "flying white" brushwork and layered washes of ochre and charcoal. The fish's upward gaze creates a dynamic diagonal movement within the square frame. This piece also bears a distinct calligraphic signature and a square red seal in the lower left.
