Description
A rare and exceptional antique Art Nouveau period French faience (majolica) vase, produced by the renowned ceramics manufacturer Hautin Boulenger & Cie (HBC) of Choisy-le-Roi, France. Circa late 19th or early 20th century (c. 1880-1910).
This vase is a superb example of the majolica technique, featuring a bulbous, double-gourd shape and high-relief decoration of large grape leaves and fruit motifs. The design embodies the organic, nature-inspired forms and sinuous lines characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement.
The piece is distinguished by its vibrant, hand-painted polychrome glazes in rich shades of green, red, yellow, and cream, all rendered with precision and a lovely lustre.
Marks: Stamped "FRANCE" and signed "Choisy Le Roi/H Boulenger" on the base, with additional incised numbers (not specified in prompt, but typical of these pieces).
Measurements: H:6in W:5in
This unique, artist-signed piece represents a high point in French art pottery and will make a stunning addition to any serious collection of Art Nouveau or majolica ceramics.
