This pre-columbian hollow terracotta figure originates from the Jalisco region of West Mexico, specifically within the shaft tomb tradition. The figure is depicted seated atop a four-legged zoomorphic bench or stool, featuring animal-head terminals on either side of the seat. The individual is modeled with characteristic Jalisco features, including an elongated head, a prominent nose, and small, coffee-bean shaped eyes. The torso displays faint remnants of polychrome pigment, likely a cream or ochre slip, arranged in geometric patterns across the chest. Anatomical details such as the nipples, fingers, and a simple waistband are rendered with applied clay. The surface exhibits a naturally aged patina with mineral deposits and areas of oxidation consistent with its burial environment.
