This charming oil on canvas board is the work of Richard A. Schmueckle, a noted Pennsylvania Impressionist from Bucks County. The artist, who lived from 1903 to 1988, was known for his mastery of landscapes and still life compositions. This particular piece features a dense arrangement of lilac and spring blossoms in a deep blue globular vase, rendered with the soft, broken brushstrokes characteristic of the Impressionist movement. The work is signed "R. A. Schmueckle" in the lower left. It is housed in an exceptionally ornate "swept" gilt frame featuring deep-relief floral carvings and acanthus leaf corners, which complements the traditional aesthetic of the Pennsylvania School.
DIMENSIONS H: 16 in x L: 13 in (Framed size)
CONDITION REPORT The painting is in overall excellent condition with no visible signs of paint loss, flaking, or restoration. The colors remain bright and the surface appears stable. The canvas board is securely housed in its frame. The ornate gilt frame is in good condition, though typical for its age, it shows minor surface dust and very small, localized chips to the gesso decoration.
