This 18th-century antique stipple engraving depicts the notable English judge Sir Francis Buller, 1st Baronet, seated in his formal judicial robes and curled wig. Based on the original portrait painted by American-born artist Mather Brown, the composition captures the dignified composure of the prominent jurist, holding legal documents in his hand. Executed by the celebrated Italian master engraver Francesco Bartolozzi, the work demonstrates the soft, tonal textures characteristic of the stipple technique, which he popularized in Great Britain. The margin includes formal publication lettering and the family crest below the image plate. The engraving is presented under glass in a classic mahogany frame with an inner gilt border.
