Framed etching titled The Road to the Meadows by American artist Ernest C. Rost. The composition depicts a tranquil rural roadway bordered by trees and a stone wall, with farm buildings visible in the distance. Executed with fine linework and atmospheric shading, the work exemplifies Rost's celebrated pastoral landscapes of the late nineteenth century. Signed in the plate and dated 1890. Presented in a decorative giltwood frame.
Dimensions: 12 x 26 in.
Condition Report: Overall good display condition with age-related toning, light foxing, and minor discoloration visible. Frame exhibits wear, scuffs, and finish loss consistent with age. Artwork not examined out of frame. Pencil inscriptions, title, and signature remain visible.
