Description
An original 1961 work titled "Triangle" by artist Walter Redding. This 12 x 15 inch composition is a premier example of Mid-Century Modern abstraction, featuring three stylized, avian figures rendered in vibrant magenta, lemon yellow, and cerulean blue.
The piece is set against a heavily textured, moody sage and umber background, punctuated by rhythmic white dabs of paint and the titular geometric yellow "triangle" that anchors the trio. Redding’s work here perfectly bridges the gap between 1960s graphic modernism and whimsical folk art. The piece is signed and dated "Redding 61" in the lower left corner.
