Joan Miro (Spanish, 1893-1983) was a pioneering Catalan-Spanish painter, sculptor, and ceramicist whose revolutionary style blended surrealism, abstraction, and childlike spontaneity. Heavily influenced by the Catalan landscape, folk art, and the subconscious, his works are celebrated for their biomorphic forms, symbolic figures, and vibrant use of primary colors against stark black lines. This framed mixed media composition features a central biomorphic contour figure outlined in black crayon against a tan ground, surrounded by a lively array of colorful pastel dots and a signature at the lower right.
