An original antique Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print, also known as a hanga. This piece is attributed to the celebrated artist Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865), who signed his works as Toyokuni III after 1844.
The print belongs to the shunga genre ("spring pictures," a euphemism for erotic art), which was a popular and widely produced subject during Japan's Edo period (1603-1868). It features a detailed and intimate scene of a couple in an embrace, likely a page from a shunga book or a standalone print, possibly related to popular literature such as The Tale of Genji.
Dimensions: 21" H x 17" L.
