Description

This striking vertical hanging scroll features a classic East Asian "Three Friends of Winter" motif, rendered with a contemporary, expressive energy. The composition is anchored by a gnarled, ink-washed pine tree, its needles depicted with sharp, rhythmic brushstrokes that suggest both strength and age. Intertwined with the pine is a blossoming plum branch, its delicate pink petals providing a soft, vibrant contrast to the monochromatic intensity of the ink.

Perched amidst the rugged bark are two songbirds, accented with brilliant flashes of turquoise and yellow, adding a sense of life and movement to the scene. Small dabs of cyan "moss" or lichen are scattered across the trunk, a signature stylistic touch that bridges traditional ink wash techniques with a more modern color palette.

The piece includes a fluid calligraphic inscription in cursive script on the lower right, accompanied by three distinct artist seals (red cinnabar paste), denoting its provenance and authenticity. The artwork is professionally mounted on a multi-tiered silk brocade border with a sophisticated floral pattern in gold and earth tones.
