This striking pair of original abstract paintings is the work of celebrated Serbian-American artist Vladimir Prodanovich. Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, in 1952, Prodanovich began his formal training at age seven and spent a decade apprenticing under Yugoslavian masters. In 1983, he emigrated to the United States with only $300, eventually settling in California where he spent 27 years establishing himself as a force in the Neo-Expressionist movement. His contributions to the American arts were recognized in 2011 when he was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, a prestigious distinction shared by world leaders and cultural icons.

This 2016 diptych, titled "Horizon of My Soul" and "I Am Missing You", serves as a testament to Prodanovich’s signature "sculptural" painting style. Utilizing a heavy impasto technique, the artist builds a dense, rhythmic topography of pigment on canvas. The palette is a sophisticated blend of deep violets and indigos, dramatically cut by horizontal sweeps of electric turquoise and warm amber.
