Description:
Etching titled “Woman Reading” after Rembrandt van Rijn (Dutch, 1606–1669), produced from the celebrated Armand Durand 19th-century restrikes of Rembrandt’s original copper plates. The composition depicts a woman intently reading a book, rendered in Rembrandt’s characteristic use of expressive line work and delicate shading.
In the late 19th century, French engraver Armand Durand acquired access to Rembrandt’s original copper plates and produced a limited series of highly regarded restrikes that helped preserve the master’s famous etchings. These impressions remain popular with collectors for their historical connection to Rembrandt’s original plates.
Presented in a wide mat and decorative frame. A certificate from The Art Collection, Inc., Davie, Florida accompanies the piece.
