This primitive, single-log tribal ladder is hand-carved from a dense, weathered hardwood, characteristic of the utilitarian and architectural artifacts produced by the Naga people of Northeast India or similar indigenous cultures of Southeast Asia. Sculpted from a solid, single tree trunk, the ladder features four carved rectangular step cutouts or footholds running vertically down its length.

The piece displays an exceptional, deeply weathered natural patina with a sun-bleached, textured surface. The raw, organic contours of the original log are preserved along the edges, showcasing the tool marks of traditional hand-hewn craftsmanship. These structural ladders were traditionally used to access elevated granaries, stilt houses, or ceremonial platforms within tribal villages. Today, they are highly sought after as striking architectural elements or rustic sculptural objects in contemporary design.
