This antique firearm is an authentic example of a long-barreled matchlock musket, commonly referred to as a moukhala (or malkhala), traditionally utilized across North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and parts of the Levant. The piece features an exceptionally long, smoothbore iron barrel secured to its slender wooden stock by a series of traditional structural wraps, including wire and cord bands. The wooden stock terminates in a distinctive, stylized flared buttstock typical of regional indigenous firearms from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The lock mechanism is a primitive matchlock design, complete with its original trigger guard and serpentine mechanism intended to hold the burning match cord. The weapon exhibits an authentic, untouched weathered appearance, showcasing decades of genuine tribal use, field maintenance, and historic handling. Pieces of this nature were highly prized heirloom items, serving as both practical defensive weapons and significant symbols of status and masculinity within regional tribes.
