Description
This is an authentic, finely engraved antique map of Europe, titled "Europa, ad magnae Europae Gerardi Mercatoris P. imitationem". It was drawn by Rumold Mercator, Gerardus Mercator's son, and published as part of the very first "atlas"—a term coined by Mercator himself. This specific map is the scarce first atlas issue from the 1595 posthumous edition of Atlas sive Cosmographicae Meditationes, published in Duisburg.
