This lot features an original, hand-signed letter from Norman Rockwell on his personal "Stockbridge, Massachusetts" letterhead. Dated January 9, 1973, the letter is addressed to a Miss Schirrman and offers a charming personal anecdote regarding his fashion preferences, stating: "Ascots are difficult to find but Brooks Bros. on Madison Avenue in New York City carry them, and that is where I get mine." The piece is boldly signed "Norman Rockwell" in ink. Included with the letter is the original mailing envelope postmarked May 25, 1971, addressed to a Mrs. Howard Clinton Lane in Mount Vernon, Iowa, featuring Frank Lloyd Wright and United States Flag postage stamps.

This item originates from the former Norman Rockwell Museum of the South collection.

Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 10.5 x 7.25 inches (letter); 3.5 x 6.5 inches (envelope)

  • Medium: Typewritten ink on paper with hand-signed signature
