Description:
Oil on canvas painting depicting a horse training scene by Ernesto Icaza, the renowned Ecuadorian painter celebrated for his detailed portrayals of ranch life, equestrian culture, and rural traditions of South America.
The composition shows several mounted riders wearing traditional wide-brimmed hats guiding and training a horse within a circular stone corral. One rider works the horse with a lasso while others observe from horseback. The background features rolling hills, trees, and a stone enclosure, creating a calm pastoral setting that emphasizes the horsemanship at the center of the scene.
Icaza was widely recognized for his depictions of working horses and hacienda life, often capturing the movement and character of both rider and animal with careful attention to detail. The present work reflects those themes through its lively composition and narrative depiction of ranch activity.
