Description:
Oil on canvas painting depicting a Mediterranean-style village scene by Dines Carlsen, known for his richly textured impressionistic landscapes and architectural compositions. The painting portrays a sunlit town square with terracotta-roofed buildings arranged around a central fountain. Figures move through the plaza while oxen pull a cart along the winding road, adding life and narrative to the scene.
Carlsen employs thick, expressive brushwork and a warm palette of ochres, reds, and greens to create depth and atmosphere throughout the hillside village. The composition draws the viewer’s eye from the foreground plaza upward through the layered rooftops and greenery.
The work is signed “Dines Carlsen” in the lower right corner and retains an old label on the reverse. Presented in a dark wood frame.
