Elegant pair of 19th-century French Louis XVI-style urns crafted from richly veined green marble and adorned with ornate gilt bronze mounts. The midsection is encircled by a finely cast gilt bronze band with scrolling ornament, centered with striking ram’s head masks in high relief. From the masks hang decorative garlands of flowers and foliage in gilt bronze, forming classical swags across the front of each urn. Additional acanthus leaf mounts accent the lower body, enhancing the neoclassical aesthetic.
The urns are topped with flared marble necks and removable gilt bronze covers crowned by pinecone finials, a traditional decorative motif in French neoclassical design symbolizing prosperity and hospitality.
