Striking pair of Italian majolica vases featuring vividly painted mythological and pastoral scenes. Each vase displays finely hand-painted classical figures in landscape settings, including draped female figures, putti, and mythological characters rendered in vibrant enamel colors typical of traditional Italian maiolica.
The tall baluster-form bodies rise to flared necks and are mounted on decorative pedestal bases with scrolling ornament. Most distinctive are the elaborate sculptural serpent-form handles, which curl upward and around the rim in dramatic looping forms, decorated with dotted patterning and glossy glazing.
