This elongated vertical composition features two fishermen draped in a large, stylized white net, set against a coastal backdrop of deep teals and muted greys. Plutarco Andújar was a leading figure in the mid-century Dominican art scene, known for his ability to blend academic realism with a distinct Caribbean modernism. In this work, his signature use of strong, black calligraphic outlines defines the figures and the intricate mesh of the net, creating a graphic quality that contrasts with the fluid, expressionistic washes of color in the background. The white hats of the fishermen serve as focal points, drawing the eye through the narrow frame and emphasizing the verticality of the piece.
