This large vintage Italian art glass vase is executed in the Sommerso (submerged) technique, featuring layers of amber and deep amethyst-purple glass encased in a thick, clear crystal body. The vase is characterized by a vertical ribbed or "optic" pattern that enhances the color play and light refraction. The form tapers toward a flared, ruffled rim with a soft undulating edge. The base is thick and polished, typical of heavy Murano-style studio glass from the mid-20th century.
