This large-scale Murano glass sculpture, titled "The Lovers," is a masterful work by Loredano Rosin. The piece features two abstract, stylized heads executed in polychrome calcedonia glass, each supported by a clear glass arm and hand. The calcedonia process creates a complex, multi-tonal surface with swirling striations of purple, amber, blue, and green, mimicking the appearance of natural semi-precious stones. The figures are set upon a heavy rectangular black glass base. Rosin was renowned for his technical innovation in solid-glass sculpture, and this piece exemplifies his ability to convey human intimacy through fluid, modernist forms. The artist's signature is incised on the base.
