Painted cast iron mechanical coin bank featuring the classic "Trick Dog" circus scene with a standing clown, black performing dog, barrel, and metal hoop, all mounted on a colorful rectangular base embossed "TRICK DOG." The design originated with Daniel Cooke’s 1888 patented Trick Dog bank and was initially manufactured by Shepard Hardware Company, with later versions produced by Hubley Manufacturing Company.

The mechanism was designed so that a coin placed in the dog’s mouth is carried through the hoop and deposited into the barrel when the lever is activated. Based on the construction and underside configuration visible in the photographs, this example is cataloged conservatively as a later reproduction rather than an original period bank; reproductions of the Trick Dog design are well documented.
