U.S. National Defense Service Medal and matching ribbon bar. Authorized in 1953, the National Defense Service Medal is awarded to U.S. military personnel for honorable active service during designated periods of conflict. The bronze-tone medal features an American bald eagle perched on a sword and palm branch beneath the inscription “National Defense.” The accompanying ribbon bar displays a wide yellow center stripe flanked by red, white, blue, and white stripes against a red field.

Measurements:
Approximately 2.5 x 1.5 inches.

Wear consistent with age and use including minor surface scratches, finish wear, and handling marks to medal and ribbon components.
