This fine collector’s egg box is a late 20th-century authorized Fabergé limited-edition creation, blending the classic disciplines of imperial-style porcelain and heavy cut glass.
The upper dome of the egg is composed of thick, clear lead crystal, sharply wheel-cut in a geometric diamond and triangular facet pattern that catches and refracts light. The lower bowl is crafted from fine white porcelain, decorated with an elegant, continuous gilt-scroll and foliate border. The two halves are joined by a delicate, textured gilt-metal bezel ring, which is secured at the front with a clasp cast in the form of the Russian Imperial Double-Headed Eagle.
The clear crystal dome allows a permanent view of the internal surprise: a three-dimensional, miniature gilt-metal figurine of a classical ballerina captured mid-pose on one leg. The figure is mounted on a highly polished gilt floor plate.
Interior Rim: Stamped in a crisp, sans-serif font: FABERGÉ
Hallmarks: Stamped with a series of four distinct, small rectangular hallmarks along the floor rim, including a purity mark of 925 indicating sterling silver or silver-gilt construction for the internal elements.
Limited Edition Number: Stamped No. 98 of 100 indicating its specific place in the limited production run.
Silver Stamped & Theo Faberge signed
Crystal Dome: Excellent condition. The cut facets remain sharp with no major chips, fleabites along the edges, or clouding.
Porcelain Base: Excellent structural condition with no chips, cracks, or hairline fractures. The gilt scrollwork remains crisp and free of rubbing or shelf wear.
Hardware & Clasp: The gilt-metal hinge mechanism functions smoothly, and the double-headed eagle clasp snaps securely into place.
Interior & Figure: The ballerina figurine is structurally sound, upright, and securely mounted.
Surface Wear note: The polished gilt floor plate exhibits noticeable, heavy tarnish, mottling, and greenish-brown oxidation bloom across the lower half of the circle. This can be left as-is to verify age or carefully polished with a specialized cloth at the buyer's discretion.
